Cancer survivors are the guests of honour at Relay For Life.
Anyone who has dealt with the emotion that comes with a cancer diagnosis is considered a survivor. This includes those newly diagnosed, those undergoing therapy for cancer as well as those who have been successfully treated.
A survivor can take part in as much or as little of the event as they want.
Cancer survivors are welcomed to Relay for Life as guests of honour to meet and share their experiences of cancer and to open the Relay by walking the very first lap, the survivors Lap of honour.
The Lap is a very special time when cancer survivors are invited to walk the track together, sometimes supported by their family and friends for many, the experience of gathering together with other survivors is extremely powerful and reminds everyone attending the Relay why they are there.
It also highlights that today, more people than ever before are living with or surviving cancer. It reminds us that through research, we are bringing the day forward when all cancers will be cured, and that raising money at an event such as Relay For Life will help us beat cancer sooner!
If you know any survivors who want to register or if they have any queries, please contact Sarah Moore on 01595 695 965/07788 733 651 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
